A focused range of premium, Italian-made surgical sutures for everyday veterinary practice. Browse by type below.
Built for veterinary surgery
Vetsutures offers a carefully curated range of premium veterinary sutures, grouped into two families so you can find the right material fast. Every product shares the same foundations: Italian clean-room manufacturing, ISO certification, and siliconized drilled-end steel needles, supplied sterile in boxes of 36 with a five-year shelf life.
Broken down by the body, for tissues that heal
Absorbable sutures lose strength over a predictable timeframe and are fully broken down by the body, ideal for internal tissues that heal and no longer need support. Our absorbable range spans polydioxanone (BIOLONG), polyglycolic acid (BIOCRYL) and glycolide with caprolactone (BIOSHORT).
Lasting strength, for long-term support
Non-absorbable sutures retain their strength in tissue long-term, ideal for skin closure and tissues that need lasting support. Our non-absorbable range includes blue polypropylene (BIOLENE) and polyamide (NYLON).
Sutures for every patient you treat
Small Animal
Dependable closure for cats, dogs and companion animals across routine and complex soft-tissue surgery.
Equine
Strong, reliable sutures for equine procedures, from the clinic to the field.
Bovine
Hard-wearing options suited to cattle and large-animal procedures, on-farm and in theatre.
Dental
Secure, atraumatic closure for oral and dental procedures.
Drilled-end siliconized steel needles
Every Vetsutures suture is finished with a 302-series siliconized steel needle, chosen for its ductility, penetration and resistance to breakage. Our drilled-end construction seats the thread into a precision-drilled hole rather than a crimped channel, which delivers:
- A stronger needle-thread seal that holds under real surgical tractions.
- Reduced tissue trauma and bleeding, with a needle-to-thread ratio kept close to 1:1 for an atraumatic passage.
- Consistent handling pass after pass, protected in foam packaging until use.
